Marquinhos scores in São Paulo's win against Real Madrid
Marquinhos scored the only goal as Sao Paulo defeated Real Madrid in their Copa Libertadores quarterfinal first leg match on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian midfielder put the game to bed early on with his powerful header from a corner, which was followed by a superb save from Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
It was a difficult evening for the Argentine giants who were reduced to ten men after Diego Godin was sent off for a second bookable offence just before half-time.
Sao Paulo, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in all competitions this season and will be hoping that they can repeat the same level of performance at home next week.
In other news, Barcelona have reportedly made a £125 million bid for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international has been heavily linked with a move away from the San Siro this summer and it looks like he could be moving to Camp Nou.
Lukaku is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe and if he does join Barca, then they will have a formidable forward line with Messi,Campeonato Brasileiro Glamour Suarez and Iniesta.
Barcelona are also interested in signing Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci but it seems that the Italian club may not let him go for less than €75 million.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez has struggled to find form since joining the Gunners last summer and the Chilean international has been linked with a move away from North London.
United have made a £40 million offer for the 29-year-old but Arsenal are thought to want more.
It remains to be seen whether Sanchez will end up at Old Trafford or stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Finally, Liverpool have reportedly made a £60 million bid for Roma winger Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield over the past few months and it seems that Jurgen Klopp wants to add another attacking threat to his squad.
Salah has been in fine form for Roma this season and he would bring some much-needed creativity to the Reds' attack.
Liverpool are currently fourth in the Premier League table and will be looking to make a push for the title this season.
They need to sign Salah soon though, as there are plenty of top clubs interested in his services.
Overall, it has been a busy week for football fans with plenty of transfer gossip and exciting matches to look forward to. Stay tuned for more updates!
